This piece is part of a series of works that the artist began during a period of residence in New York. to combat a bout of extreme homesickness, the artist draws out imagery that is familiar to her, using what material was most accessible; pastel and paper. This is the latest of her series of ‘banig’ artowrks that she now has completed shortly after her homecomign in the Philippines. The banig series materializes the life of the Filipino diaspora and their ability to adapt to fit into whatever country, yet retain within themselves the spirit of their culture.
