The artwork utilizes the flexibility of lines, be it straight or curve, to come up with a form, shape and figure to depict the purpose of the artist. It also uses variety of colors to express the feelings that the artist wishes to convey. The artwork depicts a sad expression which is conveyed by the pair of eyes.
It shows the face of our savior Jesus Christ, which is implied by the thorns on his forehead. It can be noticed that majority of the color is sky blue or light blue which, according to the Color Psychology, expresses freedom.
The color’s connection with the face of Jesus Christ is that the savior set us free, He gave us freedom from the original sin. He gave His own life for us to be free from sins. The sad eyes expresses that in spite of everything, men still tend to turn to evil and to the lair of sinfulness.
