My artwork represents about Mining in the Philippines.
Mining continues to be a dangerous activity wether large-scale industrial mining or small-scale artisanal mining. Not only are the accidents, but exposure to dust and toxic along with stress from the working environment or managerial pressures, give rise to arrange of dosage that from various personal perspectives that of the ordinary man like me as a member of the Society.
I discovered that it is not impossible to ignore the impact of mining on daily living. As an grownup adult and own a house with other elements, motor bike, and a mobile phone all are dependent on mining. And I learned Mining is harmful to our environment. Mining can pollute air and drinking water, harm wildlife and habitat, and permanently scar natural landscape.
Small-scale artisanal mining has a particular challenges that are not seen in large-scale mines including the association of gold mining with health problems to people from psychosocial, cardiovascular, respiratory, and sexual risks, including also the other complications such as pneumoconioses, asbestosis, and silicosis caused by inhaling fine particles from the large amounts of dust generated by mining activities such as blasting and drilling.
Mining has a negative impacts on our society, economy and environment too! As a mountaineer, Open Pit Mining— it damages our Mother Nature and Natural Habitat and also loss of vegetation cover, mas destruction of water bodies, loss of biodiversity, land-use changes, and food insecurity, increase social viruses and conflicts, high cost of living, and air pollution.
Mining is NOT a healthy occupation. Mining maybe the only source of income for these miners and families, it is important to find ways to improve their lot and make Mining in the Philippines safer or to stop Mining.
I, John Alinsugay Rosco, says NO TO OPEN PIT MINING. NO TO MINING.
