I was inspire to do this painting by the life of Pedro Calungsod a Pilipino Saint, The story of Pedro Calungsod shows us that young people can do great things. Born in the Philippines, Pedro was only 13 when he joined a group of Spanish missionaries who were going to travel to the Marianas Islands to teach the native people about God. He did well, and many people were baptized into the faith because of his efforts. Pedro, who served as a sacristan in the church, impressed the group as a devout, prayerful young man who would be a good example to the Islands’ youth whom the missionaries wanted to catechize and bring into the Catholic faith. Pedro died for his faith in 1672, when he was only 17. The colorful background was represent the Philippines, blue and red is dominant color with 3 star and a sun.
