In this subject depicts a laborer cutting the gills of tuna, scavenging to collect what can be taken in a discarded tuna meat in the gills which they sometimes called “tira-tira” or left overs.
Aligned and interconnected to the current social situation of rising inflation, the artist wants to depict a struggling man as he tries to find food. The subject serves as a visual statement in the underlying socio-economic paradigms that poor income families are among the most affected and needs more attention and support from government.
Social issues have been the artist main themes and his work addresses a sense of loss, pain, angst concerning the person’s position in society. This theme viewed as individuals caught in social, political, and cultural barrage.
