Van is an Architect and Civil Engineer by profession from Digos City, Davao del Sur. Though born in Dumarao, Capiz, he considers himself a full pledged mindanaoan after living here for 3 decades. His passion for art started during his childhood days watching and observing Ilonggo artists from Iloilo where he spent his grade school. Inspired and supported by his parents, he learns oil and watercolor from various artists and now his 2 favorite media. His subject of choice is the human anatomy and portraiture. To capture the complexity of all tissues forming the human body at rest or in motion is very challenging and satisfying at the same time.
